REAL Harlem Reacts To The ‘Harlem Shake’

I couldn't agree more, I have no problem with people making fools of themselves on YouTube (I find it hilarious) but when they mislabel whatever dance they are doing and call it the Harlem Shake, its not cool. Especially when it is clear for everyone to see they have never seen it done properly before or were not around when it came out in like 2000/1. Its like Chinese whispers but with some random dance instead.

Supercomputer technology. Revolutionary gaming?

The GeForce GTX TITAN harnesses NVIDIA's Kepler architecture, the same technology that powers supercomputers, is now implemented for the next generation gaming experience.

Bearing in mind that NVIDIA's Kepler architecture was previously reserved for their high end workstation graphic cards; the likes of QUADRO and TESLA.

NVIDIA's Kepler architecture gives you 2,688 NVIDIA CUDA cores and 4.5 teraflops of gaming horsepower. The GTX TITAN also delivers a 384-bit memory interface running at a blazing fast 6 Gbps for an amazing 288 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Additional features:

•NVIDIA TXAA technology (Temporal Anti–aliasing) - bringing cinematic production level of fidelity, utilising a new anti–aliasing technology that deliver a viewing experience that eliminates the distraction of unrealistic, jagged lines (”jaggies”) and aliased shimmering.

•NVIDIA GPU Boost 2.0

•NVIDIA PhysX technology

•NVIDIA FXAA technology - FXAA is a new way of performing antialiasing that's fast, effective, and optimized for modern game engines. Instead of rendering everything at four times the resolution, FXAA picks out the edges in a frame based on contrast detection. It then smoothes out the aliased edges based on their gradient. All this is a done as a lightweight, post processing shader.

•NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync

•NVIDIA Surround

•Support for four concurrent displays including:

-Two dual-link DVI
-HDMI
-DisplayPort 1.2

•Microsoft DirectX 11.1 API (feature level 11_0)

•NVIDIA Project SHIELD -Ready

•NVIDIA 3D Vision -Ready

•NVIDIA SLI -Ready

•NVIDIA CUDA technology

•PCI Express 3.0 support

•OpenGL 4.3 support

•OpenCL support

With a pre-order price tag of between £830.00 - £840.00 it isn't cheap. However, for what you're getting with its' low power consumption and low noise profile (compared to previous generation cards), it would make a great addition to any build especially small form factor gaming or media pcs.

Film Round-Up

Here are some of my films recommendations to watch if you want to be uber-cool like me.

Children Who Chase Lost Voices Form Down Below (2011) - A coming of age story involving young love and a mysterious music, coming from a crystal radio left as a memento by an absent father, that leads a young heroine deep into a hidden world.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006) - A teenage girl finds that she has the ability to leap through time. With her newfound power, she tries to use it to her advantage, but soon finds that tampering with time can lead to some rather discomforting results.

Robot And Frank (2012) - Set in the near future, an ex-jewel thief receives a gift from his son: a robot butler programmed to look after him. But soon the two companions try their luck as a heist team.

Architecture 101 (2012) - A South Korean romance film written and directed by Lee Yong-joo. The film tells the story of two students who meet in an introductory architecture class and fall in love. The story unfolds 15 years later, after the girl tracks down her first love to seek his help in building her dream house

Voices of a Distant Star (2002) - A Japanese anime by Makoto Shinkai. It chronicles a long-distance relationship between two close friends who communicate by sending emails via their mobile phones across interstellar space.

Halo 4 (2012) - This is the complete story of the game including cut scenes and some gameplay footage. Absolutely amazing intro sequence highlighting the skill and craftsmanship of 343 Industries (a game developer) that rivals some CGI in feature films I have seen.

Wreck It Ralph ( 2012) - A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfil his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives. Great film.

Skyfall (2012) - Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. Whilst MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (2012) - An introvert freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.

Appleseed (2004) - In a utopian society created at the end of the third world war, a female warrior who has been plucked from the bad lands begins to see cracks in this new façade. And what does this community have planned for the rest of humankind?

Disney's Paperman

Disney's next iteration of its production pipeline and the future of 2D animation for the company. The assets are 3D but rendered to appear as traditional 2D cell animation.

Looks good so far but to my knowledge this type of cell and line shading techniques have been used in the anime industry for years now and has already been successfully done. An example is Appleseed, a 2004 Japanese animated science fiction action film directed by Shinji Aramaki and based on the Appleseed manga created by Masamune Shirow.

Time will tell on this one if Disney can produce the goods with this new implementation into its production house and reinvigorate their flagging 2D industry since former Disney CEO, Michael Eisner, famously closed their amazing 2D animation studio in Burbank in 2002.

5 Centimeters Per Second

A beautiful story of yearning, isolation and a sense of loss with a just hint of hope for good measure. The artwork is stunning and is truly one of my favourite films.

I personally prefer the Japanese version with subtitles because I think it loses something essential, especially when it is brutalised by bad voice acting. I linked the English dubbed version for people who don't like to read when watching films - lol...enjoy.

Synopsis -

Told in three interconnected segments, we follow a young man named Takaki through his life as cruel winters, cold technology and finally, adult obligations and responsibility converge to test the delicate petals of love. Source : IMDB
